Dogs in the Neighborhood

All dog owners should assume the full and complete responsibility for the safety and actions of any dog owned, kept, harbored, or in the custody of the dog owner. What does this mean? You are responsible for keeping control of your dog. Dogs may not be let loose and allowed to run off your property. Please be mindful of this Ordinance (No. 16-01) enacted by the Gilpin County Commissioners. To read the full law:

Please also remember to pick up after your dog on walks along our neighborhood roads AND the shores of our lakes. It is all of our responsibility to keep our neighborhood safe, clean, and beautiful.

Need to report an issue with a loose, barking or otherwise nuisance neighborhood dog? Please call the Sheriff's Office Dispatch at 303-582-5500, and they will send an officer to investigate.
