Playground upgrades
In early February, the Board mailed out a formal request for resident input regarding upgrading the playground located in Columbine Park. This mailer was sent via USPS to all property owners in Dory Lakes. An emailed version was sent a week later to all residents who have provided DLPOA with an email address. A "2 Week Reminder" email was sent at the end of the voting period. 102 residents chose to voice their opinion on the playground initiative this March. Of those 102 votes, 3 votes were invalidated, 84 voted in favor of playground upgrades and 15 voted to take no action. Looking further into the "Replace" category, 60 property owners voted for option 2, 16 voted for option 1, and 8 had no preference. The Board will move forward with upgrading the playground equipment with Option #2 outlined in the previously mailed proposal. Due to weather, economic and long-term financial concerns, a determination was made to switch the surfacing material to pea gravel. With this change, it was also determined a ramp would not be added at this time. Thank you to all who voted and made your voice heard. We look forward to providing a safer, more inviting playground structure for the neighborhood to enjoy.
As you may have noticed, installation of the new playground has begun! We are experiencing a brief delay due to springtime ground saturation, but site work is expected to commence again soon. Columbine Park will be closed to the community during construction activities. Thank you in advance for your patience and for adhering to this short-term closure while our park is upgraded!
