Free carbon monoxide & smoke detectors

Each year over 430 people die and over 50,000 visit the hospital due to carbon monoxide emergencies. Approximately 3,500 people die in the US from fire each year. Unfortunately, Gilpin County has seen an increase in both in recent years.

Gilpin County, Gilpin County Sheriff Office, Timberline Fire Protection District, Central City Fire, City Of Central and City Of Black Hawk have partnered in an effort to reduce carbon monoxide and fire related injuries and deaths. Our goal is to ensure every home in our Gilpin County is protected by a minimum of one carbon monoxide detector and two smoke detectors.

If you are in need of a carbon monoxide or smoke detectors call 303-515-4339, leave a message with your needs, address and phone number. You will be contacted by the appropriate agency to assist you.

Xcel Energy is a major contributor to this project along with many others.
